Houston Chronicle Quotes Stacy Thompson on Proposed Law for Flood-Prone Properties


A proposed bill introduced in the Texas Legislature would require property owners to fully disclose flooding dangers when selling the property. State Sen. Joan Huffman introduced the legislation known as Senate Bill 339. The firm’s Stacy Thompson talked to Houston Chronicle columnist Chris Tomlinson about Texas’ history of placing homebuyers in the position of figuring out the flooding risks. “We have a lot of people moving to Texas, especially to the Houston area where you are at sea level, virtually, who do not know this information,” Thompson said. “The buyer isn’t going to know where to go to get the information.”
