Meloney Perry Speaks to Beaumont Enterprise on Imelda

South Texas is still reeling from the effects of Tropical Depression Imelda. With scores of homes damaged from torrential rains and floodwaters, local residents are asking why a state of emergency hasn’t been declared. Others are worried that, as flooding becomes a regular occurrence, insurance policies will become more expensive. In an interview with The Beaumont Enterprise, attorney Meloney Perry spoke on how likely that was to happen. “When you’re in the actual flood zone where you have a greater chance of flooding, then the premium goes up,” she said. “The closer you get to the flooding, the more your premium increases.”
